Hey fellow travelers

Has anyone hiked up Lycabettus Hill to see the view of Athens? What is the best way to get there? Worth the hike?

Best way is to take the funicular on the way up, as hiking might not be pleasant in the heat.
There is a magnificent view from the top of the hill, if sky is clear you can see even the Aegina island !
There is a small chapel Agios Georgios on the top and also a luxurious restaurant, Orizontes.
You can walk your way down, instead of taking the funicular railway, it is a nice walk

The funicular is definitely worth it, though we walked up through Athens to get to it, so we were ready for a bit of a break. The views are beautiful.

Several years ago we were in Athens during a heat wave and it seemed like a hike just to get to the funicular.

The views are fantastic and the restaurant was a nice place (rather pricey) to sit and get something to drink to help us cool off.

Taking a taxi is the best way to go to the entrance of the funicular.... a Taxi from Syntagma Square should cost about 5 Euro maximum.
