Best way is to take the funicular on the way up, as hiking might not be pleasant in the heat.
There is a magnificent view from the top of the hill, if sky is clear you can see even the Aegina island !
There is a small chapel Agios Georgios on the top and also a luxurious restaurant, Orizontes.
You can walk your way down, instead of taking the funicular railway, it is a nice walk

Several years ago we were in Athens during a heat wave and it seemed like a hike just to get to the funicular.
The views are fantastic and the restaurant was a nice place (rather pricey) to sit and get something to drink to help us cool off.
