Luxury Hotel question

I have really enjoyed all the information I have gleaned from this website. I am going to London in 1 1/2 weeks. I found an opportunity to stay at Claridges for an unbelievably great rate. But only for the last 4 days of my stay. So I will be at another hotel for the first 3 days. i can stay at Dukes, Connaught, or the Savoy, or the Halcyon or the Hempel for about the same price. i would love some feedback to finalize my plans. My last 4 days at Claridges are booked and paid for and cannot be changed. Thanks in advance!

Lucky you ! These are all fabulous hotels (especially Claridges). All of your choices would be fine - but for location I like the Savoy -- haven't stayed there but have eaten there several times. The location on the river - the terrace room - the theatre, etc.

But for absolute top darwer service (not that others are much different) I'd suppose the Connaught or Dukes might have a SLIGHT edge.

I don't think you can go wrong with any tho' - and I am VERY jealous :-)

The rooms at the Savoy are nothing to write home about IMHO. Location is, of course, superb.
Personally, I think Claridge's is the best on your list.

Have stayed at Claridges, Savoy many times on business. Claridges is wonderful, though Dorchester ismy favorite. Of those listed, Savoy rooms can vary widely interms of rppm sizes/layout, so if you were to stay there for so long, I would make sure that they give you one of the larger rooms. I would go with Cannaught from this list.. I believe that it was renovated a few years ago.

Can you share the rates and how/where you got them?
Stayed at the Connaught and loved it. Verrrrry English - your room will probably have a butler - very old school and elegant. Rough neighborhood. :) (it's right near Claridges). So I suppose it's more an issue of if you want to be based in a different part of town or the same. Dukes is also lovely, although not quite as fancy as the Connaught, and is just below Piccadilly by Fortnum & Mason.

Have fun!
