Luxembourg City Hotel Cravat

Spending 1 night in LUX before flying home to US. Thinking about staying at Grand hotel Cravat. www.cravat.lu

Location looks good. It is less expensive than Le Royal.

Trip advisor does not have good reviews.

Location looks good. How is location relative to Le Royal hotel?

thank you.

I stayed there many years ago, but thought it was old-fashioned (and old) even then. Unless they have redone the place, it will be even older now! I do remember it was quite well located. Le Royal is much nicer, although a fairly boring hotel.

Tulips,
thank you. hm.. Location is important. We only staying for one night. If le Royal is boring, I d onot want to pay extra bucks for it either. If it is run down, I can survive for 1 night, but was it clean?

We stayed at the Cravat for one night in August 2001. Location was good, and I thought the hotel was fine for a one night stay - we had a nicely sized corner room on the top floor with a lovely view, quite large by European standards, and yes our room was clean. I don't remember thinking that it was run down or old (although I would say it is an old-fashioned hotel), but then again we got a special last minute weekend rate that was well under half their rack rate and I think the price you pay can influence your perception - if we had paid rack rate I may not have felt the same. I can't comment on location relative to Le Royal as I am not familiar with that hotel.

No, it wasn't dirty or run-down, just old-fashioned. It would be fine for one night.
