Lunch Stop Between Selcuk and Kas?

We will be driving from Selcuk to Kas in October, and I am looking for advice on how / where to break up the drive with a lunch stop. Any suggestions for a good town and restaurant?

I understand that this is a relatively long drive (although I didn't realize quite how long when I set up our itinerary and booked our hotels ...). However, we're not willing to do just a 1 night stop along the way, so we're going to do the drive in 1 day. I think the drive sounds horrendous, but my husband who will be driving is completely unconcerned as he does 8 hour round trip drives - with 4 or 5 hours of work in the middle - every other week or so for work. Anyway, mappy.com is telling me 6 1/2 hours. Is that about right, or should we count on it taking longer?

Dalyan is about half way, here's a restaurant with a view of the tombs across the river there - http://www.carettacaretta.net/ing/index.html

By the way, it's a pleasant drive, some interesting countryside along the way - across the Meander valley, strange rock formations south of Çine, first sight of the Med as you descend from Muğla and, finally, down the Esen River valley for that last, stunning, sea-edge section between Kalkan and Kaş.

It's a pity you'll be missing the many ancient sites that could be visited along that route.

On second thoughts, after having just read their menu (aimed at Brit tourists), maybe skip that place and go for a lake-edge restaurant at Köyceğiz.

There are also some decent roadside places for a simple lunch.

Try the first one that is under some tall trees on your right after you pass Marmaris turn-off. They should mostly have grills and salads.

By the way, as Croesus said, the drive is not horrendous at all. It is pleasant, interesting and not that long. We have done it many times and were never tired.

Xanthos is very near the highway, some 40 k after you pass Fethiye turn-off.

Thanks very much to both of you!
