Lunch stop between Gigondas and Beaune & WW2 in Burgundy
I see different routes to get from Gigondas to Beaune, and though I don't want to extend the drive past 5 hours, I'd love to find a charming and beautiful place to stop for lunch. Any thoughts on the best route and what village to stop in? Once we are in Beaune we won't be journeying south again, so this is my chance, lol.
Also, any suggestions for WW2 tours or visits while in Burgundy area? I'd love to get into cellars where they hid wine from the Nazis, or see resistance tunnels, and have already booked a tour at Joseph Drouhin. Thank you!! |
Here are two routes I found that look relatively fast:

Tain l’Hermitage and, across the river, Tournon are charming towns perhaps a little less than halfway along your route. One of the best meals of my life was at Le Cerisier in Tournon. The thought of lunch with a view over the river could pull you towards Le Quai or La Peniche.
The fiercest resistance fighters in Burgundy were in the challenging terrain of Morvan. Would you be up for an hour’s drive to Saint Brisson? https://www.museeresistancemorvan.fr...C3%A9sentation |
