Lunch place Porto - Lisbon

Somehow my last query didn't make it. I'm looking for a nice place for lunch, driving on a Sunday between Porto and Lisbon. Preferably not in a large town, but not too far off the expressway Porto-Lisbon.

Mealhada is the home of Portugal's best roast suckling pig, which is called "leitao." It's located north of Coimbra, about 100km from Porto.

The oldest and most popular restaurant in Mealhada is Pedro dos Leitoes. A great lunch including dessert & wine will only run you about 40 Euros for 2 people. You can get there by driving down A-1, exit at Mealhada, and then take EN-1. (It's right off the highway.)BTW, they also have other menu selections if you don't like pork.

Hope this helps...

Thanks much. I drink a toast to you when we get there.

Are reservations required?

A footnote: Yes, Pedros dos Leitoes is worth a stop. But it is farther out of town than suggested in the original post. From the south side of town, it is at about the fifth or sixth roundabout going north. We spent quite a bit of time looking for it, thinking that it was closer to the center of the town and not knowing that it can't be missed if one stays on the main road going north.

I have dined on the roast suckling pig at Pedro dos leitaos (lay tone es) in Mealhada (may al yada) ansd it was the best I ever tasted: better than Botins in old Madrid or even Meson del Duque in Segovia (Spain).
All we had with the meal was a big salad, bread and the piglet (Vinho Verde seems to go well with it).
