Lunch near Alhambra (Granada)?
On Boxing Day (26 Dec) we're driving from Malaga to Granada to visit the Alhambra at 2pm.
Can anyone recommend a restaurant in or near Granada where we can have a quick /simple lunch beforehand, bearing in mind we'll need parking? Thanks in advance! |
Perhaps have lunch inside the Alhambra, in the patio of the Parador? http://travel.nytimes.com/travel/gui...nt-detail.html

This restaurant with views sounds great too!

OOPS- My suggestion is actually for dinner, not lunch! Sorry!

Kimhe: The Parador seems a little formal for what we have in mind but location-wise it's perfect so we'll prob go there unless we hear of any other places.
Sara: No probs, thanks anyway! |
There is a restaurant just before you reach the parador. Don't remember the name of it but there was outdoor dining under lots of shady trees and a fairly large crowd at lunch time. It is on the left side as you would approach the parador. Hotel America may possibly do lunch and it is in the same area.

I very much enjoyed my lunch and two dinners at the restaurant of the parador. (I was staying there. I was especially taken with my cold almond soup (this was summer), but all the food was fresh and light, and themed toward classic Andulician recipes. I remember a Spanish gentleman at a nearby table singing to his dining companion a very romantic melody. So it's not THAT formal.
I think you should reserve ahead if you want to eat there over the Christmas period. Have a lovely visit to the Alhambra. |
If you are not looking for a "formal" lunch, there is an attractive bar are outside of the main restaurant at the parador that has a limited menu and is very attractive. We ate dinner there twice during our stay at the Hotel America which is next door. The Hotel America also serves lunch some days but the service is very slow.
In my opinion, you should just concentrate on your timed entry to the Alhambra and just bring sandwiches to eat in the car. Lunch is minor. Also, you will probably have to park near the ticket office and change your reservation sheet into an actual ticket. This will take time. Then you have to walk a ways to the Palace entrance-also takes time. |
Another vote for a meal at the Parador along with its specatcular view.

Doesn't Hotel Alixares serve lunch across frrom the Alhambra?

The Parador isn't formal at all, and it wasn't outrageously priced for lunch.
