Lunch ideas in the Narbonne area?
Hi there:
We are meeting a fellow traveler for lunch next week in Narbonne and I was wondering if anyone has restaurants they love in or near the city? |
sorry, I found the main covered market great to eat lunch but it is a bit of a businessman on his own sort of place, not a lingerer
|
No idea of expectations or price.

Thanks! We actually have reservations at the Grands Buffet-we had to make those months ago. I am really intrigued by it since it is kind of a Las Vegas "all you can eat bigger than life" kind of place. I will take a look at La Bonne Excuse as well since we will be in the area a few days. I know I didn't give you all really any parameters in terms of prices etc. so I do appreciate the suggestions. In general, we really are looking for fresh local fare versus "haute cuisine". I am willing to pay the price but generally just don't like the formality of most higher end places in France. On the flip side, we try to avoid the more "tourist trap" kind of places that you can find a fair amount of in beach areas where the food is heated from frozen, fish over cooked, etc. It can be challenging to find that happy medium! And since we tend to stay for a fairly long stretch in France we also always appreciate local's favorite ethnic restaurants like Indian, that, Italian etc. since that makes a nice change from French food every day :)
And we do plan to go visit Les Halles while we are there since it is near where we are staying, so that is a good reminder to look at places within the market. We decided to book Asado for the lunch with our friend at the Château Capitoul outside Narbonne towards the beach. We are headed to Nimes after lunch so that should make that fairly easy as well. For others who run across this thread I will put down my notes of other places we also thought looked interesting: Brasserie du Moulin The setting looks nice near the canal called Brasserie du Moulin. It is part of a hotel complex that we actually looked at staying in. The advantage there is the setting and the parking should be easy (we have a car) : https://www.thefork.com/restaurant/b...in-r43765/menu https://www.moulindugua.com/menus/ Méditerranéo - Château Capitoul or Asado (they are in the same property which is also a hotel) Méditerranéo looks fancier and Asado is more about grilling. Both look excellent.
