Lunch between Beaune and Paris
 

Can someone suggest a nice spot for lunch half way between Beaune and Paris? Something easily accessible on our route.

I haven't travelled the route yet but we are thinking about stopping in auxerre for lunch when we drive the opposite way later this year...

Auxerre does look beautiful.

What route do you an to take? I just assumed the one going through auxerre...

Another vote for Auxerre. We've had lunch there.

I would consult www.viamichelin.com for a Bib Gourmand in a smaller town. Getting into the center of Auxerre was not the easiest thing, as I recall.

I have been looking at Joigny as well as I think it is enroute and probably (?) easier to get in and out of?

We parked next to the river in Auxerre - and as I recall, it was no big deal. If you stop in Auxerre - you also have a very interesting city to explore. Get a "walking tour" map at the tourist office & follow it. Emblems are embedded on the sidewalk, marking the route. There were stripes on the sidewalk too - but many of them were paved-over.

Avallon! Le Relais Fleuri, right off exit 22 of Route A6. Astonishing lunch of Charollais beef with mushroom confit. Jambon terrine, escargot and scrumptous trout en crote all served on succession of varying beautiful pottery, English bone china etc 23 euro pp memorable!
