Luna & Simone Hotel?

Hello!
My husband and I are visiting London for 3 nights (2 full days) and wanted to find a nice hotel (clean, quiet, safe) for under $150 a night. We found the Luna & Simone Hotel, and wondered if anyone had any opinions or experience with this hotel? The ratings on TripAdvisor.com were great, however the hotel is not in one of the more "touristy" areas I was looking to get into. I am hoping a quick ride on the tube would make up for its distance from good tourist attractions. Does anyone have any opinions about this hotel?

I don't know what you have imagined that location to be - but it is right in the middle of Victoria/Pimlico. It is convenient to any sort of transport, walking distance to Tate Britain, the river, Victoria Station, etc. In other words - quite a "touristy area"

It is a very good property in an area full of hotels/B&Bs/Guest Houses.

Hello

I recently stayed there, and it is as advertised. Basic, clean and good value.

Transport is easy and nearby. It is a 10 minute walk from Victoria Station and tube. the bus just outside (across the street)will take you to Traflgar square- the National Gallery, St Martins in the Fields (the crypt is great food at reasonable prices)then down to the thames across to the eye and back across to Big Ben and ... or ...

I also recommend Chimes nearby for lunch and dinner and some cider. (a block from the L&S)

Have a good trip

We stayed here last summer and loved it. It is clean, modern, convenient to transportation and serves a nice breakfast. We always walked down to the Pimlico station and takes about 5/10 minutes. I understand there is a bus stop in front of the hotel. The employees were always pleasant and extremely helpful. We also ate at Chimes and enjoyed it. We would definitely stay here again. Barb

I have stayed there also and it is fine. I like the location since you can walk from Victoria. The 24 Bus stops right close.
I like the cider at Chimes. There is a great Greek restaurant close by.
There is a little street market on Tachbrook Road.
Great food shopping at Tesco and Sainsbury.
It is a very easy walk to Westminster and the Buckingham Palace or Green Park. Or you could go to my favorite place the Royal Chelsea Hospital. The grounds are beautiful (think the Chelsea Flower Show which is in May). the buildings are Sir Christopher Wren and the WWII veterans are charming hosts.

Thank you for your replies and advice everyone! This sounds like a good find, so we made our reservation and look forward to staying at this hotel.

I also looked at this hotel and thought of reserving for a week at end August. The fact that it has no a/c put me off. I cannot imagine being stuck in London during a heat wave (which have become more and more common lately) without possibility of cooling down. How did you all handle that? Or have you been there during cooler months?

A/c is pretty unusual at budget hotels in London. Sure there are some - but at just £30 to £40 per person one's choices are limited.

So unless you luck out and find a 2 star place w/ 4 star amenities, your choices are pretty much:

- suck it up and exist like the vast majority of Londoners - sans a/c.

- spend more for a modern or more upscale property.

- travel during a cooler time of year.

Or use Priceline, get a 4* centrally located London hotel for likely rather less than $150 USD/night (quite likely less than $100/night total), and have >80% odds (my guess, based on the hotels that typically come up) of getting a hotel with A/C.

See previous posts in this forum about Priceline.
