luggage with spinners
 

Hi there,
Has anyone had luggage with wheels that are called "spinners." my mother would like to purchase a new piece of luggage with those type of wheels. its a nice idea but the wheels look like they would break easily.

I love it.. and would highly recommend it. I bought 2 kinds - Rimowa which is very expensive and - Heys. I bought all 3 sizes of each and can't tell you how much easier it is than the plain ones. What I like about both these brands is the harder construction..

I have the Atlantic one and love it. So far no problems with the wheels and my bag gets pretty beat up being dragged around the streets of NYC.

Glad to hear good things. Is that where the wheels spin all around instead of just straight? Sounds great for an elevator and other situations. The wheels do look a little small however.
I just bought a 24" Dockers piece (with spinner wheels) from Tues.Morning....$49, (listed at around $ 200),,,must be a "second", but that is fine with me Haven't used it, but it "moves" very well and smoothly in every direction. (it Hard to find a 24" piece of luggage and that's exactly what I wanted. Have 26 and it's too big, 22 too small...for me!)
It's a personal thing with people!

The only thing I am concerned about is that it is fairly heavy when empty, which I don't like. Many of the very high end ones are like that however, I think?

We bought two 21" pieces at Marshall's a couple of weeks ago. Can't remember the brands (each was different) and I'm not gonna wake my DH by turning on a light in the bedroom right now to check:)

The construction on these looks sturdy and the wheels look good. What sold us was when we walked (in the store) with them at our side. Much better than dragging them behind us.

(Geez, I just realized how soft we've become when i complain about "dragging" wheeled luggage! Think of the old steamer days! Heck, I just need to remember the matching American Tourister luggage the folks gave me for Christmas every year in high school--one piece each year. Stuff weighed a ton!)

And they're still selling those wheeled carts you put the non-wheeled luggage on. Nothing ever stayed on them & they were bulky as all get out.

With the length of airport concourses now & switching terminals, we'd all have back injuries lugging carry-ons without wheels.
