Hi,

my family of 4 will be in Prague end of Oct. I understand we have to purchase ticket for luggages. What I'm not clear is how many tickets to purchase, is it 1 ticket per luggage or per person? If we are 4 pax with 5 med luggages, how many tickets to purchase, 4 or 5 ? Is the ticket machine available in English interface?

What is the earliest we can buy student agency bus ticket online from Prague to Cesky Krumloc? Does the trip involves winding road? The reason I asked is because I'm very prone to motion sickness despite with medication.

Are you travelling from the sirport or trains station? and where are you heading?
with 4 people and that aamount of luggage I would bite the bullet and use taxis or shuttle services. for upto 4 people it is omnly about 600kc from the airport to any hotel in the city. saves a ;lot of hasle for not much money.
for the ticket machines you will need coins and I very much boubt you will have enough to use them, there are english instruction on the machines.At the airport there kiosks in both terminals where you can buy transport tickets and you will get change.
Personally I buy 24hour tickets 110kc each and that also covers any luggage you may be carrying.
with any transport ticket you MUST validate the tickets and how to do that is mentioned on the link I posted.I cannot over emphasise the need to do this as fine for not compliance are very heavy and the inspectors take no prisoners and are just as nasty to locals as they are to visitors.
can't help you with the buses, but with motion sickness try ginger tablets or eating crystalised ginger, works well for most people.

Thanks unclegus for your imfo. Actually, we will be arriving by train from Dresden. We just need to take a short metro ride from the train station to our accomodation. The website you have posted give clear intructions on tickets for public transportation. Apparently is 1 ticket per luggage.

You should be arriving at Hlavni nadrazi, the metro is actually in the train station just before you head out the main doors, there is a stand just beside the stairs where you can get tickets, if that is closed then there is a Relay shop just yards away that will also sell them.There are also quite a few ticket machimes in that area to.If you do need change there is a machine in the locker area on the far left of that area (as you face the platforms) where you can get change ,only takes 100&200kc notes.
I travel to Prague 2 or 3 times a year, if I have large amount of luggage I use the Shuttle service i mentioned, but at other times I use public transport it is very good and easy to use.
where are you staying and i can try ansd check the right route for you to use.I am in Prague late May for a week might even be able to run the route for you as I will be all over the place checking various bars and resturants.

I know the guy that runs the website and often meet up with him when I am in the city, he is English,lives just outside Prague,is married to a Czech lady and has 3 school age kids so he is well versed it travelling about the place.

Meilim,I was looking to buy the student agency bus ticket from Prague to Cesky Krumlov as well. As far as I can tell, the website only will let you go 3 months out, but I'm not certain how that works. Also, I see that it leaves from "Na Knizecki"; I have no idea where that is - do you?

Na Knizecki is a smaller bus station about 200 yards from the Andel metro / tram interchage.
last time I passed by there about 6 months ago they were doing a lot of work to it, i presume thats finished now

Hi,

thanks unclegus for your replies. We will be staying in an apartment in Prague 2. The apartment website gives us detailed imfo on what metro line to take and the stop closest to the apartment, so no problem there.
It is just the first country that i will be travelling to in Europe that impose a luggage tickets, so was a bit confused. During the last 2 visits to most other countries in western europe do not need us to purchase luggage ticket, so i think this is unique to chezch republic. Just to avoid the fine, will just go ahead to puchase tickets regardless of size of luggage as the ticket price is pretty cheap.

Thank you both; I had not been able to locate it on any of my maps. I'm learning a lot from this thread, especially since Meilim has asked many of the same things I would have asked.
