Luggage storage in Orvieto, Italy

Can anyone confirm or deny if there is, in fact, luggage storage once you arrive in Orvieto? We would like to travel there for a stop on our way from Rome to Florence but we will have light luggage with us.
I have heard that there was once storage at either teseotur or Hotel Picchio but I have been unable to confirm that. Thanks!

We spent part of a day in Orvieto last year, and if there is luggage storage, we never found it.

A nice lady at the tourist information office let us leave our suitcases in a back room there, but we had to pick them up before they closed for lunch. That gave us about an hour and a half to visit the cathedral and start lunch before Mr. Pickle had to get our bags. We ended up rolling them along with us for the next hour or so.

Slferen,

Orvieto is so wonderful, try to stay overnight! There is much to see and do, plus lots of excellent restaurants. The passeggiata in Orvieto is the best I've enjoyed during my trips to Italy.

The website of the Picchio hotel says they have luggage storage (deposito bagagli), but don't say whether or not it's only for guests.

Why don't you give them a call? Or send a fax, which they could manage to translate and respond to even if their English is minimal.

If you use the search function, you should turn up some posts about people storing luggage at the hotel. The train station does not have storage.

I went through this last year when I thought we might have to do the same thing and didn't come up with any recent confirmation that the hotel still offers this service. Granted, I did that research last spring, so it's worth looking for again. Short of that, I think it would be worth your while to contact the hotel directly.

Otherwise, is there room in your itinerary to stay a night in Orvieto? It's really a lovely town. We only got to do a day trip there during a week's stay in Umbria, but given the number of day trippers, I imagine the town has a much different feel after they all leave.

According to a few different sites, there is luggage storage in Orvieto as of late last summer.

This appears to be down in the parking lot area behind the train station.

It also seems they have a "Welcome Pack" for 5€ which gives you a cappuccino/crossiant, 2 hours of bag storage, a map and a shopping discount card. For a few euro more they include a bottle of Orvieto wine.
