Luggage storage along Bernina Express route?

Family of 4 traveling from Chur to Tirano along the Bernina route on local trains and then on to Milan. We will be traveling with our luggage (each will have a 21" rolling suitcase and a small back pack). As we would like to stop at one or two villages along the Bernina Route, and then board the next local train an hour later, we are not sure what to do with our luggage during the stop-over(s).

Although potentially convenient, checking the luggage with Swiss rail prior to 9 am in Chur won't work, as we will be departing Tirano well before 6 pm to continue on further into Italy, and it would be quite expensive as well for them to send forward all of our bags even if we could pick them up in Tirano upon our mid to late-afternoon arrival.

So, which of the stations along the Bernina route have luggage lockers or a safe place in the station where we can store our luggage while briefly exploring these villages?

And during our layover in Tirano (minimum 30 minutes when looking at the detailed train schedules), what can we do with our luggage if we want to briefly explore Tirano?

neckervd - Do you know the cost of the luggage lockers? The station links on the map don't list prices and the embedded links for each station don't work. There seems to be three locker sizes.

Thanks so much for the link. Alp Grum is one of the stops we'd like to make, but the site does not indicate availability of any luggage storage services. Is anyone familiar with this stop? Any ideas what we can do with our luggage during our brief visit?
Thanks.

Alp Grüm has a restaurant and also accommodation. I am pretty sure they would keep your luggage (for a small fee, or if you have a meal there) for a while. However, what else than having lunch and gawking at the scenery do you want to do there? It's not a village where you could stroll for an hour.

Seriously, I'd either break up the train ride in Bernina-Diavolezza and go up to Diavolezza by cable car. Or in Poschiavo, which is a very nice Italianate town, good for at least two hours and a nice lunch.

Bravuogn, Samedan, Schlarigna, San Murezzan, Puntraschigna, Puschiäv and Tirano have left luggage offices resp lockers.
The fares arre not the same all over Switzerland, but they usually don't exceed 5 CHF per locker (or piece of guarded luggage at stations where are no lockers).
Alp Grum and Le Prese have restaurants. Punt Muragl is the starting point of the cablecar to the panoramic hotel restaurant Muottas Muragl.

The other stops are rather starting points for longer hikes than places for short stop overs.

The sbb website has information about which stations have left-luggage offices (at what hours) and which stations have lockers, including how many of what sizes and at what costs. From the "home" page, first click "Station and services" near the top, center. Then click on the picture above "Find a station" to the left.. Then enter the name of the station. Look under services (for a manned desk) and equipment (for lockers). As you plan, keep in mind that the locker size probably doesn't reflect the size of the structure for the locking mechanism, which may mean that the entry space is smaller than the stated dimensions by a few inches.

Sorry -- that should have been: Then click on the picture above "Find a station" to the RIGHT.
