luggage storage
 

Can anyone tell me if there are places to store luggage at train or bus depots in Andalucia. We are taking the bus and train to and from places and would occasionally like to get out and spend a couple hours at a few places along the way. We just don't know what to do with our luggage when we do. Solutions? We would have two big bags and two carry-on types.

If you don't get the answers you're looking for, it might be that you should repost your question with more info in the title, at least the city or station name in the title.

Luggage lockers have pretty much disappeared everywhere, thanks to the terrorists who used them to conceal bombs. I have read that Spain, generally, does not have luggage rooms, but that is dated information. I think you will have to make your inquiry town by town, rather than by region, and perhaps writing the tourist offices would get you some information or suggestions.

I have to disagree. I've travelled 9 times to spain in the last 4 years and have found that the majority of cities have luggage lockers.

However, in the smaller villages, particularly when there is only bus service, there is often not even a bus station - just a stop. So you won't find lockers. I've had some luck with emailing the local bus company that services a particular village and they have responded if there are lockers available.

Most train stations have lockers - the renfe website has details by station to tell you which have lockers and which don't.

Some travel books, particularly Lonely planet and Let's Go, give specifics on availability of lockers at the bus/train stations.

CathyM is right. Luggage lockers were widely available on my last visit to Spain. Spanish lockers often require a token ("una ficha") which must be bought from the station ticket office - the lockers do not take normal coins.
I don't think luggage lockers have been used by terrorists to conceal bombs. It's a pity because they would do far less damage there than on a crowded train.
