Luggage Space on Eurostar trains

We will be taking the EuroStar trains through Rome, Florence, etc. One piece of luggage is a 26 inch suitcase (too big to fit in an airplane overhead bin). Would it fit in the overhead bin on EuroStar? Or do they have some place else for you store it?

We just took a 26 inch bag on Eurostar (first class), no problem. Too big for overhead but there is some space at the ends of the carriage.

My husband takes a large suitcase, and we have always put it at the end of the carriage in a designated space. Sometimes other bags get put on top of yours. When the train comes in to a station, you just stand near it to check it doesn't get stolen if you're worried, and relax the rest of the journey.

We took the Eurostar from Rome to Naples on the Easter Monday holiday. We had difficulty finding room for our larger suitcase because the train was crowded. It was tight in the aisles lugging the suitecases. The suitcase fit overhead, but my poor husband was tired. I thought that I was packing lightly for my family. Based on the "schlepping," I would even pack lighter the next time.

Sometimes 2 smaller pieces are a whole lot better than 1 larger piece of luggage. Traveling on trains is one of those times.

There are spaces for bags behind some of the seats (if there are any that are configured "back-to-back") and also under the seats.

There is an easier answer to this than the usual "get a different suitcase" and that answer is get there early if you can and be one of the first to board. Even if the train ends up being crowded you won;t have any trouble.

Waiting until the last minute to board these trains if often not a good idea and the luggage storage issue is one very good reason.
