Excuse my ignorance, but what about bags or carry on luggage??? is this still allowed?????I'm using continental for my trip to italy next week.

Luna..how I laughed reading your post. I can see you sitting there chipping away at the tie! Thank God I put mine on loose or I would have sent my luggage up in smoke!!

Folks if thieves want into your luggage those PATHETIC locks aren't stopping them! Nor will those cable ties no matter how tight.

I travel a lot and have NEVER had anything stolen. I have almost decided that since I don't lock or secure the thieves figure there is nothing worth taking. (which there isn't)

CarolLA, the luggage lock hasn't been invented that can stop a determined thief. The point is to stop the casual, opportunistic thief, or at least slow him/her down. Given your unlocked luggage next to mine with cable ties, which one will the thief paw through for valuables?

Hi, another ADDICT: I don't smoke anymore so don't usually have matches. A good thief carries essentials, I'm sure, and frankly a quick swipe with a boxcutter will get you into most luggage. I just don't want to have security go through things and put only a "tamper evident" tape on it - what's that all about? As if I won't know when it's been tampered with when my undies are missing. Of course, I try to think of any loss as an opportunity to go shopping!!
