Hi, I'm going on an ef tour to Europe( London,Paris,Lucerne ,Munich, and berlin) and I was wondering I it was possible to fit 10 days of clothing onto a carryon an a boarding tote. I'd like to bring some souviners home, and my trip is in march so I will need warm clothing .

You try putting "10 days of clothing" into a carryon and what happens?

If you can't, try putting enough clothes to wear "during 10 days" of your trip.

The latter can be done at the fraction of 10 sets of clothing by mixing and matching. If you have chosen combinations well, 3 tops and 3 bottoms would yield 3x3=9 combinations, not that you necessarily need that many combinations.

You don't bring 10 outfits for 10 days. People travel for weeks with a carry on. If you live in a cold climate you'll be carrying a coat - not packing it. And you only need 2 sweaters plus some tee shirts or turtlenecks for underneath them. Also bring a scarf or pashmina (wear it on the plane) for warmth and as an accessory. That plus 3 trousers is your travel wardrobe. It's plenty.

I've spent 9 weeks in Europe with only a 22" suitcase and a shoulder bag. It's all about bringing pants dark colors and mixing and matching. Wear your walking shoes, and put your dressy shoes in the suitcase.

I plan on bringing my cuddle duds for one of the days in very early April when I will be at Montserrat, which is said to be cold at that time. The cuddle duds don't take up much room.

Bring a small umbrella and a plastic raincoat, just in case.

I've travelled for 6 months with a carry-on sized bag plus a daypack. As everyone who travels soon figures out (if motivated) it's not how much you bring but what you bring. Buy garments that are made to rinse out and dry overnight. I tend to still bring too much, maybe 4 bottoms and 6 tops plus accessories but they all fit in a smallish wheeled suitcase. No fat sweaters or fluffy robes. Wear the biggest shoes. It doesn't seem to matter whether I go for a week or 6 months, the strategy is the same.

Yes, of course you can do this. It's easy. Search for packing tips on this forum and follow the advice.

It's souvenirs, btw. Don't waste your money on buying them for people back home who aren't traveling to Europe, btw. It's a big waste of money and they won't ever use them. Let them go to Europe themselves and get souvenirs.

If you are on an EF tour, you really don't have to worry about checking bags, do you? I think they take care of that for you.

Take a really lightweight folding duffel. When you come home, put your dirty clothes in that and your souvenirs in your regular suitcase.

Ten days is three outfits each worn three times, plus more underwear if you don't want to wash in the sink. If you ever wear the same jeans at home for three days before washing, you can do the same in Europe.

Think layers, and wear your heaviest clothes on the plane. Not hard.
