Lufthansa Strike?
 

Does anyone have an update on the Lufthansa strike? Are intermiitant walkouts still going on?

Hello Henry, <BR> <BR>the last info I got was that there will be a 24 hour strike in Germany on Thurday(I have to go to Munich that day). However International flights mostly seem to be untouched, because Lufthansa will put all their pilots, which are not member of the Union(called Cockpit)on those flights. If you try to catch a connecting flight within Germany I would be careful. The reason is that LH fears to loose International business, whereas in Germany you don`t have too much other choices when it comes to Airlines offering domestic flights.. <BR> <BR>Miriam

I too am watching this situation because I'm going Phil-Frankfurt-Barcelona at the end of the month. The pilots are apparently striking every Thursday from midnight to Friday at noon. I checked my flights last week for that time period (I'm leaving on Friday and connecting in Frankfurt on Sat.) and my flights were close to on-time.

How about connecting flights from Frankfurt? I have a Lufthansa flight on a Thurday very soon from Athens via Frankfurt to San Fransisco. I am a very infrequent flier, have never experienced a airline strike before. I do have not clue what they do (or not do) to get you to your destination. Any advice on what I should do (besides having a lot of patience) if I get stuck with a strike day?

Hello, <BR> <BR>Ann: as I said before-Lufthansa tries to keep the normal schedule on the International flights. Have a look at your ticket-it might even be a code-sharing flight with United and on one of their planes. To be on the safe side I would recommend calling LH costumer service, explain your situation and switch your flight to United. They`re both Star Alliance partners and that shouldn`t be a problem. Just my luck - I am flying next Thursday from DC to Frankfurt, then on Friday morning connecting to Budapest - just on the day and time they are conducting their weekly strike! I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens.
