Lufthansa flights?

We're considering flying Lufthansa out of Dulles to Italy(Bologna)with a stop in Frankfort. Has anyone taken this flight, or have any info on Lufthansa in general? Thanks. Doris

Lufthansa is great. I prefer it when I can afford it.

With the caveat that it has been about 3 years since I flew Lufthansa, I liked it. The food was excellent and plentiful, the staff was courteous and the seats were comfortable.

I have not flown Luftansa but my husband has and recomends it. We are fans of Luft because of it's berevement policies. 2 years ago my in laws where hit by a Bus , while riding a motor bike, In India. My husband had to get from New York to India ASAP while other Airlines were charging upwards of 10,000.00 dollars US due to day of travel ticketing or offering a discount only if my in laws died. Luftansa holds seats incase of such of an emergency and had my husband on a plane that night all the way to Kerala India for 1800.00 round trip.
Because of Luftansa my husband got to be with his father for 2 hours before he passed away. He also was given an open ended ticket for return as he needed to stay in India to settle his fathers affairs ( as my husband is India ) . This is what is important when it comes to airlines. He also said they made him extremely comfortable and that the airline was and always is wonderful

I flew Lufthansa from Newark to Munich in June with change of planes in Frankfurt. Frankfurt was the worst airport I have ever been in, had to leave the controlled areas, go thru passport control, change terminals, wait in long lines for rescreening, and take a 15-minute bus ride out to the runways to board the plane, and our luggage never made the flight. Arrived in Munich at 9 AM, and got our luggage at the hotel at Midnight.

I am not a picky eater, but the food was not fit for human consumption.

I fly Lufthansa often and they are a fine airline. I have flown them to Italy several times. They have nice promotions for extra FF miles at certain times. The food is fine as are the drinks. It may not be my favorite airline but is run efficiently.

Doris,

We flew Lufthansa from Dulles to Frankfurt just this past May. We connected in Frankfurt on our way to St. Petersburg. The flight left Dulles on time, arrived in Frankfurt on time, and all the luggage was accounted for. Our flight was packed, hot and uncomfortable. We weren't thrilled with the food, but whoever is happy with airline food in economy class? Overall, it was an o.k. experience.

That's the thing: if one like the food it's most likely the passenger is not travelling in economy. From what I have read-as I cannot afford it-the business class and first class sections are much better than economy (aka cattle cars).
