LUFTHANSA AIRLINE

Hi everybody,

Has anyone flown on Lufthansa from New York to Germany, and within the EU countries? Is it a good airline? Is it safe? Any suggestions of what to do in Frankfurt for a day?

Thanks,
Dave

Lufthansa is one of the best airlines flying. I suppose Singapore and/or Varig gets more cheers, but I've flown Lufthansa to and around Europe so many times I have lost count. They are punctual, thorough, accomodating, precise, and have some of the best-trained personnel anywhere. Their pilots and other backup people come to the U.S. for flight training because Arizona's weather is year-round good for that purpose. I've known some of their people personally. They are super. Their base at Frankfurt's Rhine-Main Airport is a model of efficiency. A bit cold perhaps, compared with KLM's Schipol or SAS's Kastrup, but sparkling clean and with every convenience imaginable. Not nearly the zoo that Heathrow has grown to become, Rhine-Main is one of the best for transfers; they've never lost my luggage...yet.

Dave, I have flown with them a few times to Germany and within Germany. They have a new fleet of airplanes and are very efficent at running things. I did have a delay in Berlin this past December for a mechcanical problem. Everything was fine after things were completed. I also understand that they maintain aircrafts for other airlines. I try to fly with them whenever possible...Glenn

Lufthansa is one of the best airlines worldwide.
Never heard of DEUTSCHE GRÜNDLICHKEIT?! This is something like a trademark, means GERMAN EFFICIENCY. This does exist, definitly.
Nice fly, Christina.

I have also heard good things about Lufthansa. It is recommended for international flights to Europe, along with British Airlines, and other foreign airlines. I have also heard the worst airlines to take to Europe are our domestic airlines, like American Airlines.
