Lufthansa Aegean connection
 

I originally posted this on Air Travel forum but thought I might get a better response here.

This September we have a flight on Lufthansa (booked with miles through Continental) from Newark to Franfkurt to Athens, Greece arriving at 12:45. We want to get the 14:20 flight on Aegean Airlines from Athens to Chania, Crete. Will Lufthansa check us in straight through on Aegean to Crete? I ask because I looked on Lufthansa’s site and put in our info as if to reserve a ticket and I could have booked our itinerary with the Chania leg on Aegean. Would it just be a matter of showing our Aegean eticket? If Lufthansa won’t do this do you think we’d have enough time to make the Aegean connection if we had to check in with them in Athens? Thanks

Why don't you just pick up the telephone call Lufthansa's 800 number and ask directly?

Someone definitely woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Aegean and Lufthansa are both part of the Star Alliance, so you should be checked through without a problem.

If for some reason they don't check you through you should still have enough time. You will have already passed through Passport Control and Customs in Frankfurt, meaning that in Athens all you have to do is collect your bags and go upstairs to the Aegean ticket counter to check in, assuming you arrive as scheduled, of course.

No, I wasn't being cranky BLL -- i was not criticizing anybody. I just thought, and think, that it's up to Lufthansa to reassure her about this ... they could tell her better than you or I could, whether there would be any problem with luggage transfer. Sometimes a website wording is indefinite or confusing - but a human representative can clear this up in a minute.

I agree with travelerjan..We flew to IST and had to be rerouted on Turkish Air due to ash and LH took care of all our baggage-- checked right through to Turkey. All airline partners seem to look after it all. Talking to people sets the mind at ease>>
