Lucerne to Zürich airport?

Anyone know the best way to go in summer? How long it takes? We're driving. Should we ditch the car and take a train?
Thanks.

If you are just going to the main destinations in Switzerland, then ditch the car. Use sbb.ch for train destinations

Travel by train takes a little less than an hour with frequent service and stops right AT the airport as I recall.

Dukey is correct. You can take the train to the station at the airport. I have done it several times. Super simple and convenient.

Yes return the car a day earlier and perhaps save rental fee for a day and hop the train right to Zurich Airport, where if your eturn your car you may even have an airport surcharge?

I'll be the opposite choice for going to Lucern. It takes one hour driving by car to Lucern. There's a lot of great views on the way too.

Parking in Lucern is tough, depending on where you're staying. But, you can drive around the lake with the car, you can drive to the other side of the Alps by going through the tunnels, and you can drive down to Interlaken. All of this can be done for day trips.

Relax your feet while you're visiting Central Switzerland.
