Absolutely! While there are those who will tell you that it's "too touristy", it really is a must see. (Whenever tourists flock to someplace, there's a good reason.) Highly recommend that you check out a tour guide for a walking tour. Not to be missed are the TWO bridges and the Lion Monument. In the nice weather, the window boxes are spectacular and there are outdoor cafes all around. Especially nice is the view from the tower of the Old Town Hall. Be sure to walk all over. But, do your shopping elsewhere. You can find the same goods for less elsewhere.

I love Lucerne. Not only is it very beautiful, but it is an easy place to be. Everything you want to see is within walking distance. Be sure to take a lake steamer at Least as far as Vitznau. Late afternoon is a great time to be out on the lake, and the scenery is spectacular. If you go to Mt. Pilatus, you could take a boat back in to the city. Then you could go over to the Mostrose Restaurant, right on the river, and have on of their delicious pizzas while you watch the world go buy. Last summer they were celebrating their 400th anniversary!!!

Lucerne is my favorite place in Switzerland. Take a river cruise, walk everywhere, but you MUST go to the top of Mount Pilatus. The ride up alone is worth the time, and then you can take the train or boat back to town. Good restaurant - The Old Swiss House. I thought the shopping was good here!
