lucca in July...on a Sunday
We have 1 day to visit Lucca and it's on a Sunday in July. What can we expect to be open?

Lucca will be open--not a problem. I love those authentic Tuscan towns on a Sunday--take time to watch the locals interact on a typical Sunday.

Look at www.knowital.com for a start. My fav ristorantes are Bucca di San Antonio and Il Giglio.

I believe that Lucca holds an antiques market on the 3rd Sunday each month.

Try doing a search for Lucca on Google.

Agree on the Buca d'san Antonio recommendation. The info on the fair is correct too, although it's quaint not huge. I have found the town to be fairly active - we always find some activity in the main piazza.

We were in Tuscany last July. Part of our group went to Lucca for the day on a Sunday. They rented bikes and rode along the top of the wall - said it was a fabulous experience - loved their day there.

Buca di San Antonio is super. I would pass on Il Giglio. Ordinary in our view. Try da Leo instead.
