Low Season
I'm sure this has been done to death.
But, I need to know the low season for Paris. I want to stay somewhere nice (yes, room matters to me) and when the crowds are smaller. I would so appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks, Your Friend in Detroit. Theresa |
The middle of winter is low season. But- the days are short, the weather is chilly and often damp (snow is possible but not likely) and tourist sights are often on shorter schedules.
By the time you get to nice weather with flowers in bloom and trees in leaf you're back up to mid - and perhaps even high - season. |
Hi Theresa-
BTW, loved your Rome report! I was in Paris mid November. Not too chilly yet, esp. coming from the Midwest. Dh and I felt we had the Louvre to ourselves (a wed. evening in mid November seems to be the trick). The city felt quiet, not packed at all. We enjoy traveling during off season. We are on our way to Rome in a couple of weeks... |
We've visited Paris five times, either in May, or last time, October. Not "low" seasons, but not crazy with crowds of tourists either.

I have enjoyed Paris in November and also March. No crowds and weather cool but not freezing.

When I was in Paris in March 2008, it was freezing, hailing, and snowing. That is rare, though.

Hi Theresa
We have been to Paris in April, late March, August, February and are going again in February (assuming I can walk by then). February seems to have good prices, smaller crowds. I found that many more things were open, and had better hours, than in August. |
I was there in March 2008 and it wasn't! We were there the week of the 22nd...

Venezuela Thank you for the huge compliment.
I thought going late Jan or early Feb. I just keep searching high and low for some good rates. |
