"LOW COST" Eurostar train between Rome and Florence

Trenitalia announces the commencement of a new "LOW COST" Eurostar program between Rome and Milan which will stop only in Florence and Bologna.

See my previous posting today:

"Trenitalia Launches "Low Cost" Program"

Beginning December 12, this special Eurostar train, designated "Tok" on the website schedules, will depart ONCE DAILY from Roma-Tiburtina station at 6:40 and arrive at Firenze-Campo di Marte Station at 8:16.

Return from Campo di Marte at 22:46 will arrival at Tiburtina at 0:24.

NOTE WELL that arrivals and departures are from secondary stations, NOT Roma-Termini and Firenze-S.M. Novella. However, there is metro service connecting Termini with Tiburtina, and city bus service between Campo di Marte and centrale Florence.

ALL SEATS (COMMON RATED) WILL COST 9 EUROS, REGARDLESS OF DISTANCE TRAVELLED.

The older-model Eurostar ETR450 will carry approx. 400 seats, totally air conditioned and non smoking. There will be no restaurant car. Travel time will be just as fast as regular Eurostar Italia trains.

Tickets are valid exclusively for the day and itinerary selected, are non-refundable, non-changeable, and can be purchased only through the website, self-service ticket machines at Italian stations, or through the Trenitalia national reservation center telephone number.

Reservations will be accepted beginning immediately.

The regular Eurostar Italia second class fare between Rome and Florence is 29.44 Euros, so the "Tok" fare of 9 Euros represents a savings of 71%.
