It was November 2001. Everyone thought we were crazy to go to Istanbul or even travel so soon after 9/11 but we had looked forward to it for many months. My friend's first
European trip. Maybe that is why AF was extra nice, trying to get all of us comfortable flying again. However, my cousin took a bump the summer before this and was put in the same hotel and given several meal vouchers and I think $800 or $900 credit for another flight. She was so nice to provide her struggling children a vacation with it.

I've always had good experiences with AF and will be flying them again to Italy in October. Even when they lost my luggage they were very helpful and pleasant to deal with and ultimately got my luggage back to me.

We hate AF. We flew AF to and from Paris in March and again last month with out 6 yr-old and 17 month-old. In the last two years, we have also flown CO, KLM, Luf., and BA to or from Europe. All had better run flights, cleaner planes, better crews, and were more accomidating of the children. The AF leg to Paris the last time was the best, but even it was only average.

The 777 out of Houston seems to be falling apart. There appeared to be a general state of disrpair on it compared to the others mentioned above. My wife now forbids us from traveling on AF.

Some people have bad experiences. Some are difficult (maybe that is us). However, all of the others have been fine (BA has been the best).
