Love Monoprix, anything similar in Germany?
You know, a store where one can pick up sundries, toiletries, etc. I depend on stores like this to supply me with whatever I forgot in my hasty packing! Thank you.

Sorry Dovima, I don't know but would love to know the answer for Italy as well. I too love Monoprix.

I was just speaking with a friend yesterday about Monoprix. She was recently in Europe loved a store in Germany called, Globus. She said they have everything. (She loves to shop--and is very good at it, I might add) so a recommedation from her must count for something!!)

Globus is great, but I thought it was a Swiss chain--do they have a lot of stores in Germany?
In central Germany, we shopped at a chain store called Extra (not the most impressive name) that was a large grocery store and also carried a lot of sundries, etc. Not as good as Monoprix, but more or less the same type of place. |
I'm also going to be in Amsterdam again, and I did not observe any Monoprix-type stores on my ramblings around town - but perhaps there is something similar?
I like picking up some necessities in the cities I travel to - it's nice to use them at home and think "hey, I bought this eyebrow tweezer/pocket mirror/mascara in Amsterdam/Paris/Lisbon." It may be trivial, but it's a fun way of extending my travel memories, at least for me. |
Try Lidl and Aldi for discount stores in Deutschland.
