Aduchamp1...

We also are not so fond of the pyramid (though not as passionate as you). We always enter the Louvre from the metro station on line 1 (Palais Royal - Musee du Louvre)...no pyramid to stare at and no long, long line to force us to stare at it incessantly.

...but each to his own...

I dislike intrusive architecture. A new or modern structure can have the different colors, textures, materials, style, or design but their should be some connection or cohesion with what exists.

As a NY'er, I know the city adopts certain things just to be contrarian. And, as an occasional visitor to Paris, I have heard the same.
