Louvre Free/Hall Napoleon NOT

Look what I found:
Admission to the museum is free to all visitors on the first Sunday of each month and on14th July (Bastille Day), except for the exhibitions at the hall Napoléon.
Free for children.

Is the hall Napoleon something worth to not to use free admission ?

The Hall Napoleon is used for temporary exhibits, so it will be different at different times.

You can visit www.louvre.fr for more information on temporary exhibits, but from March 26 through July 12 tje exhibit is "Paris 1400: Art Under Charles VI", a collection of Parisian art from the time period around 1400.

d'Orse is also :
"Free access for all on the first Sunday of each month"
I feel I am gonna have a busy Sunday!

Keep in mind that because those museums are free on those days, they will be quite crowded! It may be difficult to see the popular works of art. If you are on a tight budget, this is a way to save money. But, if you can afford to spend the money on admission, you may prefer to enjoy the museums at a less busy time.

Yeah, I thought of it, too.
I have just 3 to 6 of April to spend in Paris.
I was hoping to pay visit to every Biggie and then just go shopping.

Is the Hall Napoleon the same as Napoleon's apartments? I've read posts that say Napoleon's apartments at the Louvre are not to be missed, but I can't really find anything else that discusses them.

jenifer Feb 4th, 2004 07:39 AM

No, I don't believe they're the same thing. You can find a map of the museum at www.louvre.fr

From this map, Napoleon's Apartment is in room 82 on the 1st floor (the level above ground floor) of the Richelieu wing. When looking for the map, choose Richelieu wing then 1e etage. The map is small, but rolling the mouse over each room will give a description.

If you're at the Louvre on a hot day, head straight for the Richlieu Wing--it has good air conditioning. The rest of the Louvre has cooled air, but it can get very warm and humid. The Musée d'Orsay, having been remodelled from a train station, is generally pretty comfortable unless the rooms are jammed--as they often are on the week-end.
