Louve in August and September

has anyone ever visited the Louvre in August or September and happened to notice how long the lines were for getting the tickets? I realize that the Louvre is one of Paris' top draws...but some months have to be more congested then others.

three ways around the lines which in August can be huge - Sept much less so

1- buy Museum Pass and go in special entrance

2- by the bus parking garage in the mall underground there supposedly are machines where you can buy your tickets

3- a secondary entrance at the western tip of the southern wing may not have lines at all.
