Lourdes - help please
 

Hi, My husband and I will be travelling to Lourdes in May. On the way back we would like to get to Nice from Lourdes (by train), however, since this is an approx. 9 hour trip, I was wondering if there was a nice town we could stop by half way and spend a day and then take the train to Nice the following day.
Any help advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Most trains I see from Lourdes to Nice have correspondances at Toulouse and Marseille, so I would stop at Toulouse, a wonderful city, for the night. You will, of course, have to buy two separate tickets, one from Lourdes to Toulouse and one from Toulouse to Nice.

Both Toulouse and Marseille are wonderful cities. I would recommend more than one night in either one.
