Lounge in a different terminal

We arrive at London Heathrow at Terminal 5 and we'd like to use a lounge in Terminal 1. We have 7 hours between landing and departing not counting immigration, shuttles and checking in again. We do we have enough time to make it worhwhile?

I think you have enough time to do it. You should be able to get 3-4 hours of lounge relaxation. IMO, it's definitely worth it.

Thank you. Glad to know it's possible to do.

Heimdall Jul 29th, 2013 12:57 AM

Just to be clear, are you flying out of Terminal 1?

mhwhite Jul 29th, 2013 08:36 AM

We will be flying in and out of Termnal 5.

>>We will be flying in and out of Termnal 5.<<

You might have mentioned this at the outset - that makes a BIG difference as most lounges are airside and/or reserved for passengers flying into that terminal. Unless the specific lounge you are planning to use (you haven't explained which one) is landside and available to passengers arriving at another terminal, then your plan isn't workable I'm afraid.

Heimdall Jul 29th, 2013 09:58 AM

As the lounges are airside, you would need a boarding pass to get through security at Terminal 1, and then have to go through immigration again to get back out. The UK Border Agency would be looking for your landing card. Totally unworkable!

Why would you want to leave the newest terminal at Heathrow anyway? Surely the lounges are better there than at old Terminal 1.

When I first saw the bread last evening I was pretty sure it simply wasn't possible because of airside/boarding pass/etc. but wasn't 100% sure so I didn't post, hoping one of the experts would chime in.

Sure hope mhwhite does come back and doesn't rely in the first response.

Maybe mhwhite knows of a lounge that isn't airside, but I surely don't. Another possibility would be to go to a hotel lounge near Terminal 5. I don't know their names, but remember passing by one or two in my car on the way to Terminal 4.

There are arrivals lounges for some incoming business/first class passengers that are landside. For example Air Canda has one at T3 I believe - but it's for eligible passengers arriving at T3.

There is a Sheraton hotel about 5 minutes away from T5 using the airport bus.

It has a lounge. Not great ambiance, but it could work.

Then takes the bus about 25 minutes to get back to T5

Thanks everyone. We have a lounge club card that only allows us to use their lounge in Terminal 1 or 3 so from what everyone has said we will just have to be content to have lunch and wait in Terminal 5. Too bad as there will be 7 of us including three children, 8, 10 and 12. Fodors readers are the best!!!

Do you have Priority Pass? All of their lounges are airside except the Air Canada arrivals lounge but that's only for T3 international arrivals.

Personally I'd rather be in T5 than in a lounge in T3. I'd think the kids would quickly get bored confined to a lounge. I know I do. As a business class traveler I have access to T5 lounge but spend most of my time in the terminal
