Folks - you know what? I have slept on this situation and I think I MAY just skip the usual gift buying (for myself) and TREAT myself to the REAL L Vuitton purse (the style that I like so much). If I do that, I will let this forum know when I return the end of March. I have had a great time reading all of your responses. That is what makes this website so interesting. Everybody has an opinion. Everyone is different. (P.S. I really am a nice person and I am not trying to rip anyone off). Some people love shoes, jewelry, etc etc. I have always had a weakness for pocketbooks! Even in my pictures when I was a little girl, I had a pocketbook in my hand! Have a good day and keep up your passions!

Slightly off point, but I couldn't resist a good handbag discussion. Just returned from Italy, and, of course, had to buy a new purse. I didn't really look in Florence (was focused on other things like coats), but by the time I got to Rome, I wanted a purse. We were window shopping on the via dei Condotti, and passed many beautiful shops with things that I couldn't possibly afford. Then we came to Tod's and they had a few bags in the window that were actually (sort of) affordable. Went in, looked around (after polite greetings), but staff was so indifferent, bordering on rude, that we left. A few doors down we came upon a store with gorgeous bags, Francesco Rogani. Although I had never heard of the brand, the entire store was filled with quality, leather bags at reasonable prices and the staff people were fabulous. My daughter and I bought two bags, and we are thrilled. Moral of the story...names aren't everything, nice guys finish first, draw your own conclusions. Thanks for listening.
