Lost Tickets???

Hi, I really need some expert advice from the friend Fodor's Forum Fans!! This is my problem: I ordered 2 APEX train tickets from Scotrail, as my boyfriend and I are going to visit Edinburgh on our trip to the UK. I bought 2 return trip tickets for the Caledonian Sleepers on Sunday, May 2 and they were sent out on Tuesday, May 4; however, we have yet to receive the tickets! I know that mail from the UK can take at least 2 weeks to get to the states, but lately the mail I have received from the UK has taken, at the most, 5 days to get here! I have e mailed the company and they confirmed they were sent out, but I am getting concerned! If we don't get the tickets soon, what do we do? They have been charged to my credit card, but obvisouly I refuse to pay for something we never got. Plus, does anyone know what the normal procedure is if the tickets get lost in the mail? Whose fault is that?? What can I do? On the Scotrail brochure, they have a "lost tickets" policy, which I think applies if I am the one who lost the tickets. The brochure says lost tickets cannot be replaced. Technically, I haven't lost them -- I can't lose what I never had in the first place! I also have a confirmation number, and when I e mailed the company, they gave me a number to call. However, I am just playing worst case senario in my mind, and I'd like your opinion on what I should say when I call, and what I should be prepared to do (ie have the post office trace them? Call my credit card company?). Thank you so much, I know someone on this forum will be able to help me!!!
Sincerely,
Bridget

Bridget, hopefully you're not leaving anytime soon for your trip. I would wait a little longer, but for now, email the company to put a tracer on the tickets. You do have a backup with your credit card company. I believe you'd have to dispute the charges. Out of curiosity, why didn't you go thru Rail Europe? Did you get better prices through Scotrail?

Hi Monica,
Thank you for your advice. I was on the web and found a link to Scotrail, and found information for the sleepers. I had called Rail Europe and they quoted me prices for almost double -- and they didn't give me the APEX saving option. They woman I talked to told me that it would cost me @ $300 PER PERSON for this train ride, and when Scotrail sent me thier brochure, they offered prices starting at 79 pounds, and the total for us both to go was @ $250! Quite a difference! Fortunately, we aren't leaving for another month, but unfortunately I am the one doing all the planning and I've never been to Europe before, so needless to say, I feel quite overwhelmed at times. This forum is a BLESSING!! Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Bridget

Wow! What a difference in price! With you leaving in a month, I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure you have planned your trip well. I too appreciate this web site. I've been to Europe 7 times since 1990 and I still get great advise here. Have a great trip!

How did you contact Scotrail directly? I am interested in taking this train in late September and am having trouble finding a way to buy them in advance. Did you sleep OK on these?

Thanks,
Trisha
