I received 1,100.00 travel vouchers from Nortwest in 100.00 dollar and a couple 200.00 dollar and two 150.00 dollar travel vouchers. I can only use 1 travel voucher per person I am traveling with. The travel vouchers expire in a year. So it really was not that great since I would have to make alot of flights on Northworst to use them all up! I posted the travel compensation for lost luggage on a different thread. So below is the pasted thread: short story I got 400.00 dollars cash from Air France!

I wanted to post a positive experience with Air France.

I flew Northwest from Rockford to Paris in June. The experience with Northwest would earn the phrase northworst anyday. Anyway because of alot of delays and mechanical problems, my nonstop flight from Detroit to Paris, ended up Detroit to Gatwick, connecting flight at heathrow to Paris.

The leg of the trip I want to commend was Heathrow to Paris on Air France. I had no luggage because it was delayed in Detroit on a plane that never left for Paris on a Northworst flight.

To make a long story shorter, I did not receive my luggage until my last day in Paris. Airline interline aggreement states whatever flight was your last flight is responsible for your delayed luggage.
So even though Air France really was an innocent bystander in this whole debacle on Northwest they were responsible for my compensation. I just received a check from Air France for 400.00. I was very impressed, they treated me very well in the correspondence. It was very fair and generous reimbursement. So anyway just a positive praise for Air France. They were just great! Patti

When my bag disapeared between Faro and Cardiff I was told I could claim against the relevant company.

However, I was also told that there is legislation that forces airlines to a ceiling limit of payment, although I wasn't told how much.

And I would get more if I claimed from my travel insurance.
Now I don't know if the travel firm were spinning me a yarn or not.

So I was preparing a claim with my own travel insurance when alas my bag turned up intact, but a little damp.

This was coming home so didn't cause me any problem other than 30 mins inconvenience at arrival.

How about your own travel insurance?

I've still yet to hear anything back from Alitalia about my lost luggage claim from July (it was returned to us after we returned to NY). Tis time for me to call them again, but good to know this bit of info on compensation.

mcnyc,definitely keep calling, my friend that was on the same flight with all the problems has not called and has not recieved any compensation for the lost luggage she endured. Patti
