Los Angeles- London Via JFK In August
Hi all! I am travelling to London In August. To save money on the flight I booked an award ticket with American to NY(JFK)and booked a flight with British airways to London. My question is I have allowed three hours between flights, I will check in online with BA, and travel with carry on luggage only. Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether this is feasible. Thanks for any help or comments!

You should be fine assuming the flight to JFK is relatively on time (and there is a very big window)....going between terminals at JFK has become very very easy now that the air train is running...go out of the AA terminal, follow signs to the Air Train and these trains run every couple of minutes. Just cannot see a problem with this booking.

I have had to go through JFK three times in my life (with plenty of time to connect). I've missed two connections (once weather and once because we circled longer than Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis in the Out Of Towners).
Personally, I never book a flight that has to connect at JFK. You'll probably be all right, but I wouldn't bet the mortgage on it.

Have done LAX - JFK a lot, generally without a problem. You are on a red eye & it's been my experience that they are more likely to be on time because the airline needs their planes repositioned for the next day. Also the route only takes about 4-1/2 hrs (west to east) so you already have cushion built into the schedule.
