L'Open Tour in Paris?
 

Has anyone used these open busses in Paris? How frequently do they run? Are they worth the price?

Hey Mike -<BR><BR>I have to say, I played tourist for the first time in the spring sunshine last weekend. The 2-day price is just 2 euros more than the 1-day price . . . (24 vs 26Euros).<BR><BR>It's worth it because if you're getting 2 days of transport, past all the monumental sights you want to see anyway - plus it's free riverboats (the BatoBus up & down the Seine) - glorious in the sun.<BR><BR>The commentary is basic but correct, I used another map and guidebook in conjunction with the headphones.<BR><BR>Busses every 10 minutes or so . . . enjoy!

the frequency really depends on the day of the week and how crowded the city is. In the dead of winter they run about every 30 minutes, but on a weekend in July they run one right after the other.

My wife thought they were very good. The tour had three different routes and she got on and got off at the different sites. She was pleased and I'm sure would highly recommend the company. I didn't go. M.

Mike,<BR><BR>We used L'Open Tour last September and loved it. It's a great way to get to know the more popular areas as it stops by most of the major tourist attractions. I can't say I would use it for more than two days (the stops are limited and are cyclical) but it is a neat way to become acquainted with the popular emes. <BR><BR>Plus, you can plug in headphones whenever you like and (as Tracy said) receive basic info about the sights.<BR><BR>Have fun!<BR><BR>Strive

I have read about these buses before, but am now interested in taking the open bus tour.<BR>Where exactly do you get the bus?<BR>Thank You.

As a followup question, is it better to purchase the two day tickets here in the US or wait until you get to Paris?

I concur with Tracy. The 2-day pass is definitely worth the excursion!! We had trouble finding some of the stops, though. Tried flagging down a bus near the Eiffel Tower and the driver just shook his head at us. Very disappointing. We finally had to go to the tourist bureau on the Champs to find out. : )<BR><BR>A few of the stops I recall are:<BR>1) in front of the Lido on the Champs<BR>2) the bus stop at the other end of the parvis facing Notre Dame<BR>3) 2 stops near Madeleine
