There have been dozens of posts on this subject that you will find with a search here; put the words "Rome tour guide" in the search box. . The guide I recommend very highly is Francesca Caruso..you will find her e-mail within this Rome report that I wrote a few months ago:

Our first experience in Italy was so good with the guide/driver we had that we continue to use these people. They speak very good English and are Italian born. Go to website:www.limoinitaly.com to see what they offer. Prices we found reasonable.

Francesca Caruso - absolutely the best money we spent when in Rome in 2004. She is terrific. Words cannot describe her.

Contact Sonia at [email protected] Family of four from Texas last summer- had forum tour and Vatican tour with her . Excellent. She works with one of the very reputable agencies.

On the same trip that we used Francesca we also took a small group tour with Context Rome. Maximum of 6 persons on the tour with university level tour guides --- very, very professional and much more of a learning tour than most of the larger group tours. We thought they did a great job.

I am using Context tours for a private tour when we are there in July. I am sorry I cannot say if it will be any good - but Meagan has been wonderful via email.

We used Daniella Hunt for the Forum Colloseum and Vatican Museum and she was wonderful.

We also used Daniella Hunt. She was sensational. We had our 11 year old grand-daughter with us and she was very inclusive of her. I would recommend her to anyone wanting a personal guide in Rome. She is an American who has lived in Rome for 12 years, and has uni degrees in archeology and english literature. We spent 2 afternoons with her and 1 full day. Cost E60 per hour for 3 of us. Worth every cent. Cheers Pawsha
