Looking for rooms near Grenoble train station.... where are they listed..any recommendations???

I've been looking on line for the past several days...can't seem to find a hotel listed near the train station. We only have one day so I don't want to spend a lot of time looking for a room or getting to the room. Any information or suggestions will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks very much!!

Here are some Grenoble hotels near the train station:

I liked the Grand Hotel in the town centre. It takes about 20-25 minutes to walk from the train station or a 5-10 minute tram ride.

Some of these hotels are located right across the station, some are in small streets surrounding it.
The area is not too attractive, quite modern, but I don't think it's unsafe. Once you get to the town centre, things look better. Grenoble has a nice atmosphere and good food.

I second what Keren is saying. I stayed in Grenoble twice for three weeks each time to go to school. Which happens to be near the train station.
Just beware if you are going in the summer, make sure you have air conditioning. We stayed at the Hotel Insitut twice. Once in the winter and it was fine and the second time in the summer we had to move because it was way too hot. We ended up staying at some apartments close by. For one night, the ones Keren reommends are fine. Enjoy this wonderful city.

Things to do:
- visit the old town
- go up the Bastille and have a cocktail
- in the old town there is a great food hall/market.
- too many great restaurants to limit. One favourite is on the street that that the street cars go... I think it is called L'attitude. It is like a chalet on the inside. Fabulous fondue.
