We have just returned from the Parma/Bologna region; we have never eaten so well in Italy, and we always think we eat well, as we did in Bologna. And we were fairly casual, enjoying the wonderful trattorias, in part because my DH had had surgery, and could only wear shorts over his leg brace, so nothing more formal for us. We had some amazing meals at:

Ristorante al Sangiovese
O Serghei
Caminetto d'Oro
da Gianni
Montegrappa da Nello
Ristorante Biagi

We also had some nice meals at pizzerias near our hotel, as we searched out World Cup soccer games on Sky, my point being that even our meals at places that did not happen to be on anyone's 'list' were really good.

We had had a parmigiano tour at our agriturismo outside Parma, but we did meet up with friends who were doing the balsamico tour at the place mentioned above. It was very interesting, and it was also interesting to have the tour of the house. It looks like a really good day.

Socal: Did you write a report? If not, can you discuss "your" agriturismo outside Parma? Thanks!

Report is on the 'to do' list, but if you like, you can see most of what I will probably end up saying on my blog:

We stayed at the Agriturismo Leoni outside Parma; it was simple, inexpensive but really very charming. Lola arranged the parmigiano tour at the dairy that they use for their cows, so it was an intimate experience. She also would have arranged other tours for us, but we had plans to do them with friends in Bologna.

Because of DH's surgery we did not see as much as we had planned, but the trip was still good, and we certainly saw things from a different perspective this time.
