Prague to Krakow?

I'm spending 5 days in Prague and was wondering how easy it would be to take a day trip to Krakow. Is this possible? Not sure how far away it is. Would love input or suggestions of other day trips to take from Prague

In my opinion it might be too much to see Krakow as a day trip from Prague. I drove from Prague for 3 horus, stayed in the Czech countryside one night and the next morning drove to Krakow. According to Via Michelin driving straight through would take approximately 6 hours.

I have not been, but understand Cesky Krumlov is a good day trip option from Prague. I did not go there while in Prague since I was only in the city for 3 days and one day I was recovering from jet lag!

I enjoyed Krakow so much (was there 3 days) that I think trying to cram in a day trip from Prague would not be doing Krakow any justice..but that's just my point of view.

Krakow is way too far for a day trip - takes all day by train to get there or there is an overnight train.

I would definitely recommend the "Bone Cathedral" at Kutna Hora. It's an easy hour train ride to a pretty town. There are 2 other beautiful cathedrals in the town, but the Bone Chuch is the main attraction - everything was created with human skeletons by monks years ago. Eerie but a fun trip.

Karljstein (sp?) is another popular day trip close to Prague - an hour or so by train.

I second the choice of Kutna Hora as a nice and easy day trip from Prague. If you're a bit adventurous (and not claustrophobic) you can take a tour of the abandoned mineral mines in the main part of town.
