I think to say all are money laundering is a stretch. Many peope buy property as an investment and/or a place to retire.

Many peope buy property as an investment
Purchasing property as an investment is perfectly OK in Paris as long as the property is rented for periods of not fewer than 12 months. |
iris1745- you don't know me at all - To say I'm perfect because I disagree with you is a childish argument . BTW I' m not perfect - I'm human !
|
I must admit, cruising towards 83, I get more childish every day.

menachem -- I was taking issue with the sweeping statement, "They all are foreigners with something to hide.
That's why they do not register. They are money-laundering." |
And never forget that any of these people who request a cash payment are automatically illegal. It is illegal to pay cash in France for anything in excess of 1000 euros.

Yes, but many people do not live in those residential apartments.
They just have a dream to live in Paris... And, yes - a whole lot of foreigners are money-laundering - while they are renting out their "retirement apartments". |
I thought it was 2000 euros for the limit on cash payments.
|
The limit has been 1,000 euros since june of 2015.
|

|
The limit for cash transactions has been 1,000 EU since 2015.
If you have to get more money to pay for your apartment, you will have to ask your US bank to increase your ATM limit - or carry cash. |
