Looking for overnight place in Southern Portugal
WE are traveling in southern Portugal the week between Christmas and New Years. Would like to find a place that could accomodate 6 adults ( 2 or 3 rooms) and break the bank. Would also like suggestions for places to visit and eat. Does anyone know how long it would take to drive from Cadiz/Rota, Spain to Faro, Portugal? Thanks for your help.

Dear Ann,
My estimate is it would take you about 1,5 hours to get to Seville and 1,5 to 2 hours from there to Faro. The roads are great, good highways all the way to Faro.
There are good hotels for 50$ a night on www.bancotel.com and you can purchase the vouchers when you are in Spain at any travel agency. They show the facilities of each hotel, then you can research on Google, for instance, for reviews and more pictures of each hotel.
Don´t miss Sagres, at the western end of the Algarve. Food is excellent and quite cheap everywhere !

It's about a 3 hour drive from Sevilla to Algarve. I was stationed in Rota, Spain for 5 years and the base is an hour from Sevilla. We stayed at a B & B in Porto Mao. Fabulous area. Sorry, I don't have the name but hotels and B&B's are numerous. Have fun

According to the ViaMichelin website, http://www.viamichelin.com/, it would take 3 hours 10 minutes to drive the 198 miles from Cadiz to Faro via Sevilla.
