Looking for London accommodations near Jubilee Line
 

My husband and I will be in London for 11nights in November for the ATP tennis event at The O2. I'm hoping to get an apartment or hotel room on the Jubilee Line as I learned on another forum this is the tube line that is convenient for the event. I'm hoping to spend £150 per night. We will be at the event 5 nights. We've been to London several times and usually stay in Kensington or Bloomsbury and look forward to experiencing a new neighborhood. We successfully used Priceline a few years ago. Help!

There's a whole raft of new possibilities around the South Bank/Southwark St, which is convenient for the Jubilee Line (or indeed the clipper boats to the O2) at London Bridge. It may feel a bit lacking in charm, compared with Kensington or Bloomsbury, but might suit.

The O2 is next to North Greenwich Station on the Jubilee Line. There is a Holiday Inn Express within walking distance of the station. Although neither North Greenwich nor the Holiday Inn Express are luxurious nonetheless both are modern and affordable. From N Greenwich it is only 10 minutes into the City, West End and Westminster on the tube (dont forget to buy your tubes fares with an Oyster card for cost and convenience purposes). It is also only 2 stops to Canary Wharf which has dozens of bars and shops and good views of the Thames. The Holiday Inn Express is around £100 GBP per night so in your budget.
I am a Londoner (now living in East Anglia) but my daughter lives in Charlton, a 5 minute bus ride from N Greenwich. I have travelled there many times and find it modern and convenient for my frequent trips to the City from my daughter's place

I wouldn't stay near North Greenwich, there's nothing there except a big modern housing estate.

There's no particular reason to stay near the jubilee line as changing lines isn't a big deal, but if you would rather, then staying at somewhere like the Marriott County Hall plants you right opposite the Houses of Parliament and in amongst the buzz of the South Bank, with its theatres, art galleries, concert halls and numerous restaurants. And the London Eye.

I agree with Kate and Patrick, there are loads of options between Waterloo and London bridge in your price range, county hall would be a great option, also look into ibis or premier inn

I have been living in London for almost two years and I love the Thames side area from Waterloo to Canary Wharf which is very quite and safe. Moreover it is few stops from North Greenwich! If you want to save some money I would go for an apartament, 11 days in a hotel room are a lot!!

Thank you all for the replies. They've all been helpful. I'm leaning more towards a flat in An area that would have restaurants and "buzz". I gather the South Bank/Southwwrk meets this criteria. I checked the Hamlet--awaiting their response--and rent express thus far. From reading this forum I know there are plenty more. Specifically, has anyone stayed in others that they enjoyed and may work for us. I continue my research and would appreciate any more suggestions.

Location, maybe try Westminster. I don't know about the prices, though. I am in London now and took the Jubilee into Westminster last night

I usually stay at the Hilton Tower Bridge, which I absolutely love, both for the hotel itself and also being 5 minutes walk from London Bridge tube and all the buses stopping there, or 10 minutes walk across the river to the Tower. Having grown up on the outer reaches of south east London, it's a place I know well, but many "Londoners" think there is nothing but desolation and wasteland south of the river and are horrified that anyone would stay anywhere other than South Kensington or Bloomsbury. Although they may grudgingly admit that Borough Market is worth a visit.

Alternatively, having walked past the Premier Inn Southwark Borough Market many times, I've often thought what a fabulous location, just yards from the South Bank. I've never stayed there, but it gets very good Tripadvisor reviews.

Anicecupoftea - I think the same thing when I walk by that premier inn!

We have stayed in the area between Waterloo Bridge and Elephant and Castle several times (different apartments, owned by friends). We liked the area, found plenty of interesting places to eat and found I us connections to be excellent. Not much help with a place -- our friends are generous but not that generous -- but encouragement on the area.
