Looking for inspired place to stay in Warwick and Cambridge

I am hoping for some recommendations to help me choose two nights of accomodation.

We are two adults and two kids staying 17 days in the southern half of England in late June/early July. We have a car. I have used hotel points to book 15 nights at definitely adequate, but probably characterless Marriott hotels. I am looking for a non-brand hotel or B&B or farm somewhere near Warwick for one night, and then Cambridge the next. I am hoping to find something with a more British feel to it, perhaps historical (older) and less corporate. I have been looking at the reviews in Tripadvisor and Frommer's, and have emailed a few B&B's near Warwick, but there is nothing better than a personal recommendation. Apart from truly over the top pricing, I am willing to pay for "inspired".

Please help us find somewhere memorable! Thanks.

Here is a Bed and Breakfast that will leave you with a lovely lasting impression of the area. www.jerseyvillaguesthouse.co.uk lies between Leamington and Warwick and has lovely rooms with off road parking.

For Cambridge:-

It's part of a chain, but uses a v. old building, so has some character, e.g, the bar is in a vaulted cellar.

In Cambridge, you can now get B&B in colleges during the vacations.

Try this - it's a bit outside Warwick - near Stratford - but it has character! - I haven't stayed there for decades so I can't vouch for the current state........comes complete with ghosts and film location....
