We just returned from Ireland and enjoyed Galway very much. When you are in DingleTown eat at Out of the Blue.It is on the main drag and has the best fish Ive had in a long time.

Ditto, ditto: Out of the Blue in Dingle. Right my the harbor. The freshest fish ever. Make a reservation though so you won't be turned away. Listed as the 100 best in Ireland and they were. Have fun.

When you are on the Beara Penn, the "Bee Hive" huts are interesting. The drive is very pretty, but the restaurants are infrequent. We ate at a reception center that is, I believe, run by a government entity - decent food.

The Dingle and Connor Pass are beautiful. We drove the Connor Pass in the morning heading south and it was wonderful - although the roads are quite narrow.

You might think about going through Bullybunion on your way to Tarbert. It has a nice beach and a beautiful golf course. Also, there is a nice restaurant a few miles east of Tarbert called Kirby's.

Also, be sure to insist on paying in Euro's when you use your credit cards. We just got back and many times they'd insist that the change to US Dollars is automatic, and it is not. It is a rip off. If they refuse to charge Euro's, write "Requested Euro's" below your signature and dispute the charge later.

If you really want to splurge for the anniversary, some of the best lobster I have had was in Gregans castle. If you ask them in advance they will arrange to buy it direct from the fisherman in the morning and serve it to you beautifully fresh, however you choose (simple with mayonnaise on the side does it for me every time). It's been a few years since I ate there but worth a try if you like lobster.

Omsam,

Heaton's in Dingle is a wonderful place. Try the porridge with Drambuie!!

I second the advice to visit Kilmainham Jail. The brutality of the British will come home to you. The Walking Tour of the Rebellion should be done before visiting Kilmainham, if possible. Lorcan Collins is a very knowledgeable and witty guide.

In Kinsale dine at "Annelie's". Do visit Charlesfort; take the harbour cruise. Cobh is well worthwhile especially if your forebears, like mine, came through Cobh on the way to America.

Happy Silver Anniversary--many more!

In Kenmare if you have lots of dollars to spare go for dinner to the main restaurant in Sheen Falls Hotel which features French cuisine.I liked the food and the view at The Smugglers Inn on the Cliff Road at Waterville on the Ring of Kerry. A really historical place to visit is Skellig Rock also just off the Ring of Kerry-see www.lakehotel.ie/Skelligs.htm . There are lots of other places worth visiting on www.heritageireland.ie
