Looking for Great restaurant recommendations for Luzern.
 

Hello everyone,

We will be staying in Luzern for 3 nights at the end of October. Looking for some wonderful restaurants with fabulous food and memorable ambience.

We have stayed in Luzern before, but participated in a half board option at our hotel (Palace).

Can you help me out?

Below are our favorites while we were living in Luzern.
Rotes Gatter in the Hotel Des Balance - Continental and traditional Swiss cooking
Bam Bou - located in The Hotel. Very minimalist with fusion cooking
Bodu - Bistro style cooking

Another vote for the DesBalances restaurant..wonderful service and a fabulous view of the river.

Take some of that bread from the table and feed the swans, too.

I've been to Luzern several times and always avoided The Swiss House, which just looked like it had to be the most touristy place in town. But I have a client who is German/Swiss who lives in Luzern for the summers. She told me the best restaurant in town is The Swiss House. Four of us did my birthday celebration there, and it was probably the most memorable meal I have ever had in Switzerland. When we couldn't decide between doing the weiner schitzel or the chateaubriand, both prepared tableside, the waiter suggest we do both and split them four ways which we did. After also having smoked salmon carved at the table for appetizers and the great accompaniments to the meat course we were stuffed for dessert, and the waiter instead brought us all lemon sherbet served in champagne. It was all perfect.

Other favorites include the old Gutsch Hotel, but I think that may be closed now or certainly changed hands, and the delightful and atmospheric Rebstock.

One of the best meals we had on our entire trip was at Taverna Syrtaki, a Greek restaurant on Morgartenstrasse, not far from the Train Station. And I didn't even think I liked Greek food! Great service and reasonably priced.

namely at the Ristorante Padrino Ristorante in the National Hotel and
also at the main dining room of the
Hotel Wilden Mann, the Wilden Manns'

The Best western Art Deco Montana Hotel right behind the Palace Hotel up on the hill has a wonderful restaurant with fabulous view and excellent food. We stayed there in May and ate in the restaurant couple times and enjoyed the meals very much. If you have kids, make sure to order a kid's meal which the menu is printed on balloon and my boys had so much fun blowing up the balloon and looking at the menu. The terrace of the restaurant offers the best view, try to sit outside :)
