Looking for Florence rooftop restaurant/bars w/ fab views...

Can you recommend any outdoor rooftop restaurant/bars with great views? Excellent food/drinks a plus!

Thank you.

an irish pub called jj cathedral has the best view of the duomo. there is only one table for two on a tiny terrace overlooking the square at the duomo.

the bar is typical tourist irish pub...not recommended unless you can get this table. if you do manage to get the table, you will want to stay a long time.

Hey, adventureseeker-- I think I just posted a recommendation for a little hotel in Florence on your other thread! Here's another snippet from my trip report of last May:

"The afternoon we arrived, my daughter took me to a rooftop café, which overlooks the Duomo. It is on the top of a nice little ‘department’ store. I think it’s called Ristorante Ottorino, via delle Oche, 12-16r. We enjoyed wine and salads, on the sunny afternoon, with a close-up view of the Duomo. A very nice introduction to Florence for me."

The Hotel Continentale has a great roof bar overlooking the Arno.

Hi adventureseeker

There is a small cafe on top of the Rinascente department store near Piazza della Republica. I don't know how the food is, the two times I have been was just for a glass of wine. It has a great view of the Duomo, though.

Have a great trip!

There's a nice little (expensive) cafe at the top of the Boboli Gardens with a wonderful panoramic view right over Florence.

If you visit the San Miniato church, there's a beautiful sweeping view of Florence down below, from its front lot. Walking down the road from San Minitao, back to Florence, there is a little restaurant on the left, very near San Miniato, which has a nice covered patio with beautiful views of the hills. (Not sure if the food is any good, as we just had caprese and wine.) You can take a bus up and back, if you don't want to walk.

Thank you all for your great suggestions. I suppose we'll have to try them all!

There are great views up in Fiesole, a hill town overlooking the city of Florence within an easy bus ride.

Not excactly on a rooftop but with amazing views:
